Split view layout affects PowerPoint Presenter View on iPad Pro

I have an 11" iPad Pro, 2020, A12Z. I use my iPad to teach. I write on the PowerPoint slides as I talk about the information. It's great. However, I hate using the notes section of the PP... I would rather use Word.

Now here is the strange thing I have discovered. If I do a Split View with PP on the left side of the screen and Word on the right, the PP has no problems doing presenter mode on the external display/projector. If I switch the orientation (Word on left, PP on right), then my iPad will NOT do presenter view... it will only mirror the screen on my iPad on the projector. I have flipped the iPad around and this behavior persists.

As a right handed writer, I need the Word to be on my left side of the screen. Is there a workaround that people have figured out? Does this behavior still exist on the M-series iPad? Can someone please check? If this is a weird A12Z issue, then I would gladly buy the 13" iPad Pro, but it isn't something I can test at an Apple Store...

It's unlikely that Microsoft has tested for your use case. To report this issue, please tap on the three-dot icon at the right end of the PowerPoint Ribbon. Choose Help & Feedback, then Tell Us What Can Be Better. Include enough detail so that the issue can be reproduced. Submitting sends a report to the PowerPoint for iOS programming team. They are unlikely to reply.
