MICROSOFT CREDENTIAL RECOVERY FOR TELEPHONE NUMBER REPLACEMENT

Good morning, I am desperately looking for support to be able to change the phone number associated with my Microsoft account; I lost my password (it was stored in the phone that I lost) and when I ask to replace the password I am sent a recovery code on the number that I no longer have. I have tried everything, but even filling out the recovery form I always get the same response: "the answers provided are not sufficient, try again". Now I do not have and have never had an Outlook, Hotmail, Skype account, and (now I know but like me I have discovered many) I have never generated the security code for account recovery. I would like to thank anyone who can help me or provide me with the possibility of a Microsoft contact to be able to resolve.

    Hello Roberto,

Thank you for posting this issue on community forum.

As I understand, you want to recover your Microsoft account. I shall assist you towards the issue resolution. Please follow the below steps:

    Please note:

    * If you have turned on two-step verification and cannot access any of the alternate methods to get a verification, unfortunately, we do not have any other option to recover your account.

    * If youhave notturned on two-step verification and do not recognize any of the verification email or phone options when trying to reset your password, use the Sign-in Helper tool.

    1. Please retry fillingthe Microsoft account recovery form on the link by providing accurateand completerequired****information: Recover your account

Good morning Bill, thanks for the reply; unfortunately for the password recovery I have no options to choose between email or phone number (I could communicate the complete number to try to be credible as the owner of that number which is now deactivated) but only the phone number that I had activated at the time and which is now deactivated. I am desperately trying to enter the new number.....

    * Please ensure you have entered your phone number correctly and it is a mobile phone number and not a landline number or a VOIP number as VOIP numbers cannot be added as a way to sign in or get verification codes.  *** Note:**If you are still not receiving verification codes, you may have to choose another method or wait until you can access the phone or email you have listed.* If you need to update backup security information in case, you do not have access to the phone number or email address, or you need to add another way to sign in, select I don't have any of these when trying to sign in and follow the prompts. Please follow the steps provided on the link: Troubleshooting verification code issues - Microsoft Support

    To unlock your account:

    * Try another method: Sometimes the block may be tied to the verification method you are using. Try using another verification method connected to your account. For example, if you are using SMS to verify yourself and are hitting a block, try using an alternate email that is connected to the account to receive your authorization code.

Please note: If you have turned on two-step verification and cannot access any of the alternate methods to get a verification, unfortunately, we would not have any other option to recover your account. If this is case, then unfortunately, you may have to create a new Microsoft account.

    Buongiorno Bill,

Thank you for your response and letting us know about the outcome.

    1. Please check if you have any of your devices where you are logged into your Microsoft account (which is to be recovered). If so, check if you have any Password Manager tool to retrieve the current password for your account, by any chance.
    2. If you were successful in the above step, the please fill the Microsoft-Services Account Reset which would ask you a series of questions. If prompted, please provide your username and the current password. If you are asked to provide any phone number to get a security code to verify, please do so.
    3. Once, you can log into your Microsoft account, you can then change the password and even change the phone number.
    4. In case, the above provided steps do not resolve the issue and if you have followed the steps and filled the Microsoft account recovery form earlier, but it was unsuccessful, then please find the steps provided on the link: Account recovery unsuccessful - Microsoft Support
    5. You can keep tryingto submit the Microsoft account recovery form as many times as you want, up to two times per day until Microsoft verifies your account. Please note: Filling the Microsoft account recovery form with sufficient, accurate, and complete information is the only way to recover your Microsoft account.

If you experience any issues, please feel free to revert.
