Why does only one of my '1 day' tasks insist on starting and finishing on two separate days?

I have a very simple Project plan. Let's say I want to achieve 4 certifications. Each is represented by a task, but no duration is given to the task.

Each task has two subtasks, and only these subtasks are assigned a duration:

  • Study (30 days)
  • Sit exam (1 day)

Between each two subtasks there is a dependency. Between each task, there is a dependency. There are no dependencies between subtasks of different tasks.

For the first, third and fourth certification, the 'Sit exam' task starts and ends on the same day. For the second certification, it refuses to allow the 'Sit exam' task to start and finish on the same day.

There are no efforts etc. set for the tasks or subtasks. Anything I have not mentioned, I have not configured.

    1. Could you please let me know if there are any calendar exceptions or non-working days that might be affecting the second certification's 'Sit exam' task?
    2. May I know if the 'Sit exam' task for the second certification has any constraints set (like "Start No Earlier Than" or "Finish No Later Than") that might be causing it to split?
    3. Could you please let me know if you've double-checked the dependencies between the 'Study' and 'Sit exam' tasks for the second certification to ensure there are no additional links or lag times affecting the schedule?

    In file, options, general, choose a long date/time format that displays the time as well as the date.

    Check the start date/time of the project in project information.

    Check the hours/day setting in file, options, schedule.

    1. Indicators
    2. ID
    3. Name
    4. Start (including the time)
    5. Finish (including the time)
    6. Duration
    7. Predecessors
    8. Successors
