Word doesn't let me choose the voice for the Read Aloud, saying that I need to log in but I am already logged in.

Every time I try to use the "Read Aloud" function, I get this exact error:

"To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft account."

It worked fine until two weeks ago (the last time I used it) and I have tried every single thing in every thread: I reinstalled the apps, logged out and in, "repair online", reinstalled the english langague packs on my computer, used safe mode, turned on the optional experience, rebooted my pc, and it still doesn't work. I am out of options.

Last time, it was apparently due to a windows update, and yesterday I did update my windows, but I don't see anyone talking about it, so I don't know, please help.

Mine is up and running!!!! 8:30 PM EDT

Evidently today's update set it back in order.

After nearly 5 days of frustration, thank you MS for the fix.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I've done extensive toubleshooting with a few MS reps. One on r/1Microsoft and another with MS Live Chat Widget.

    I've:

Uninstalled Office 365, restarted, reinstalled Office 365
    Tried in Safe mode
Tried in Word and Outlook (multiple programs)

    Tried Updating Office 365
Created a new user account on my system and tried Office 365
    Tried repairing Office 365
I've confirmed I have an active Microsoft 365 license
I've logged out of Office 365 on Word, close it, opened it and logged back in
I've verified File > Account > Account Privacy > Manage Settings > Connected experiences is on. Then I turned it off, and back on, restarting in between
The rest of the experiences are also on.
I've tried shutting my AV off
I've tried rolling back to different updates
-*Version 2501 (Build 18429.20158)-Version 2501 (Build 18429.20132)-Version 2412 (Build 18324.20194)and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to Version 2312 (Build 17126.20126)*Nothing worked, the same error every time. "To choose what voice you hear while using Read Aloud, sign in with your Microsoft account."

Same problem - on with MS tech support. Shared screen. Updated, online updated, tried other MS products like Excel, same junk voices. Tech hung up on me after an hour. Tech called back 20 minutes later, sorry for disconnection. We troubleshot for another 20 minutes, tech hung up on me again. Tech called back again (5 minutes later). Another 5-10 clicking around, said they had to escalate to senior tech and ended the call.

MS CoPilot is the culprit. I am going to uninstall that POS and see if I can get it working.

I was so impressed now find it depressing that in this time of monumental advancements in technology this is not fixed yet. Perhaps the person who initiated the 'update' could ask copilot or better yet chatGPT for a solution to get this fixed. Now would be very helpful since i planned on using it now. Yet I too have had poor customer service and mysteriously dropped calls after spending an hour waiting to talk to an actual person.
