Add a user with read-only access to a 365 Group

Hi,

When creating a Group in 365 is there any way that a user can be given read-only access to the Group?

Group members have edit rights, I would like to be able to create a Group where users can only view the content of the Group.

I would like Group owners to be able to create an event in the Group calendar that would then be displayed in all members calendars but members are not able to edit or delete the event.

I've tried various methods in Group setup and in the corresponding Group SharePoint site but so far I have been unable to make it work.

Any suggestions?

    After reviewing your situation and exploring current options, I regret to inform you that this feature is not feasible at this moment.

    Meanwhile, I also believe that some specific configuration or settings options should be developed under the Outlook, I do understand your concerns about how it can help you be more productive in your busy daily work schedule, but since it's related Microsoft 365 product services and features option under product design, I believe that the related product team can develop some convenient configuration based on customer requests.

    I do apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and I will also pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for consideration in future updates.

    This community team and the Microsoft product development team are separate. Therefore, for features suggestions or design queries, users need to submit feedback to the Microsoft product design team from their side.     1. Could you please let me know how you are creating this group is it from Admin center, Outlook or SharePoint? Outlook
    2. Could you please confirm if the read-only permission is meant to be applied to the emails also? I don't understand your question, can you explain what read-only permission on emails is? I would like members of the group to have read-only permission on calendar events.
