One Drive folders changed to Internet Shortcuts - FOR THE SECOND TIME!!!

In June 2024, my shared One Drive folders changed to Internet Shortcuts. Despite trying any suggestions we could find, and hearing nothing but canned responses from MicroSoft, we opted to spend a weekend changing to a new email address / MicroSoft / One Drive account after 6 months of frustration.

Today, that new account once again changed my One Drive folders to Internet shortcuts. Besides going through the entire new email address process again, have I missed any workarounds for this?

    I found a fix!
    Switch to DROPBOX.
    I am so disappointed in Microsoft's technical support. This issue has been going on for months and is unacceptable.
    If enough people switch to another cloud-based company, they may get the hint.

    So far DROPBOX seems more stable, quicker, and has better support. $10/m gets you 2TB of storage with more features than Onedrive.

    I have the same problem and it has propagated around everyone we share folders with. Seems to a low priority for Microsoft, perhaps they should use Google Drive for one drive instead as that actually works!

    Two days ago on one family computer they started working again. Today, they are back to internet shortcuts.

    I wondered myself after reading this from Adam Lamont. There was a shortcut in the recycle bin but firstly I put it there during my attempts to repair the issue yesterday and also it's an 'Internet shortcut'. No dice here anyway....

    I do hope this might help others as it seems SOOOO simple.

    Same behaviour as reported. The folders shared with my family are all broken. We need a fix ASAP.
