How do I stop Copilot interfering with my documents? I removed the app but it is still there like an embedded virus. Word for Windows.

I have Word version 2501 Build 18429.20044 installed, but there is no option to remove copilot as you have described.

It has now spread like a bad virus to Excel.

Copilot suggested two ways to stop it but neither of those work as the tick boxes are not there to 'untick'.

Any ideas please?

Yes I'm having the same problem.

Fix is to go to the option menu under the file menu, but under my file menu. There is no option???

Word only: Note the restriction on the kind of Word and the version.

This is a very recent change to Office through Microsoft 365 consumer products (last week in the USA).

There have been a number of justified complaints and word is that they will be adding a switch to disable copilot to the other Applications in Windows and on the Mac. No word yet about the mobile apps on online version.

Add your voice using the feedback mechanisms.

I downloaded the most recent version of Word 2501 yesterday and once it was finished, I rebooted and there was still no option for Copilot. However, I opened Word today, and went to options to check for something else, and Copilot had "magically" appeared, so I unchecked it. It is finally gone.
