What would cause my OneDrive to suddenly be processing over 40,000 changes?

Happening for me too. Notable; it processes way slower than usual, no changes listed in the little menu when clicking on the little icon, no big chances made to files in days.
Same issue here. At the moment I don't question how this is happening, but more, how can I get rid of the files that are creating all the headaches. Large Video INSV files. If I pause, Windows will not allow me to delete or move these files. It give an error message indicating something like, "cloud files are paused, cannot blah". I have determined my workflow and process doesn't work with so many files so large. My laptop spends days trying to upload them to the cloud. I'll store them elsewhere on external 2TB SSD USB drive.
Anyone have any ideas of the best process of getting rid of files once OneDrive has determined they need to be uploaded? I worry about breaking something or causing an inconsistent state by going below the surface and just deleting stuff while OneDrive is trying to upload, and the other computer is trying to download. But I don't want to wait days for things to sync up.
has Microsoft offered any explanation and remedy?
Also same problem as well processing nearly 300 000 changes, difficulties synching to various computers, makes working with my assistant almost impossible....

Suddenly syncing >200'000 files. Nothing has been changed over the weekend and now any new files or changes aren't syncing?
None of the provided solutions have worked.
This on top of shared folder functionality dropping at random to URL shortcuts.
What is going on? What is the fix? When will it be handled?
Just happened to me on a windows 11 computer and a windows 10 laptop. I've reported a bug using the feedback hub. Not holding out much hope of an explanation.
