why would my OneDrive suddenly be processing over 40,000 changes?

Same thing happened to me around February 19th 2025, on Windows 11 and for OneDrive Version 25.005.0112.0003. Maybe after the Windows 24H2 February Tuesday update... Processing 400000 changes. Very frustrating. I don't know why this suddenly happened.

I am having the same issue. I have made very few changes to any of my one drive files. It is taking hours to process these files. Why should we create a new thread if we are all having similar issues?

I have tried resetting OneDrive as suggested (needed to do the first two windows key R run time steps in the post). At first the OneDrive tray icon told me it is processing 23k changes now it is back up to 214k changes just like it was when I first noticed this problem. I have not changed any files or folders in fact I have not used my computer for 5 days (it is now 2/10/2025). What I do find alarming is the notification in the Windows Explorer right-hand sidebar telling me don't worry you can keep working while we copy files to your hard drive and the cloud......UH HOLD ON A MINUTE, please. When I put a file on OneDrive I want it on the cloud not my hard drive. Do you mean to tell me all the files and folders that I have designated as Cloud only are going to need to be re-designated as Cloud only again????? And that the Resetting process is going to be CLOGGING UP MY LAPTOP HARD DRIVE while resetting? I hope not.

I am having the exact same problem brought up in this thread. One Drive tray icon tells me it is updating greater than 235,000 files AND I have not made any changes to my One Drive folders or files. Files are there in the Browser window, and in the Windows Explorer folders. The number of files being processed varies greatly meaning 100k changes up and down when I look multiple times. Once when I looked it said processing 8,000 changes. Now back up into over 150k. I think posting to a new thread is a dumb idea. It appears that this is the same problem for everyone that replied here. Of course maybe Md Nahid Sultan is trying to say to us that Microsoft will ignore our problem unless there are massive amounts of people creating the same post about the same issue.

for your information, i have tried every methods @nahid mentioned in 25 January 2025 reply. But it doesnt resolve the issue of having >7,000 changes from my end.
