Why my shortcut key for Bold option automatically change from 'Ctrl+B' to 'Ctrl+ N'? (Word for Windows)

I've been trying to do this for several weeks. I have reached the third line of support, which unfortunately, like the second line, works very badly. They regularly forget appointments or call many hours late (despite confirming hours and time zones several times).
In addition, they informed me that “the bug with shortcuts is not currently recognized by backoofice as a bug and is not being fixed.”

Information shared with the Word MVPs suggests that the issue with shortcuts is still being investigated. There haven't been any updates over the holidays, though.

I will definitly report it. It happens on my personal pc, and while the fix to manually change it does work, it only works for the day i do it. The next day, it is back to ctrl + N, and im not very exited to have to change it every day...

Oh well, let's hope microsoft can spare some of their 228.000 employees to fix this issue.

You can save keyboard shortcuts somewhere other than in the Normal template (a Global Template) to preserve them.

For some reason things seem to happen to the Normal template. In some corporate environments, it is re-written daily by IT.

1. Open Word Options:
   • Go to File > Options.
2. Customize Ribbon:
   • Select Customize Ribbon from the left menu.
   • Click on the Customize button next to Keyboard shortcuts at the bottom.
3. Modify Shortcut:
   • In the Categories list, select Home Tab.
   • In the Commands list, find and select Bold.
   • In the Current keys box, you might see Ctrl + N. Click on it and press Remove.
   • In the Press new shortcut key box, press Ctrl + B.
   • Click Assign and then Close.
4. Save Changes:
   • Click OK to save your changes and close the Word Options dialog.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Bloody copilot icons popping up everywhere like Clippy of old, but Microsoft manages to bugger up the simplest of age-old commands like Bold and New?

Seriously. Shame on you.
