Why my shortcut key for Bold option automatically change from 'Ctrl+B' to 'Ctrl+ N'? (Word for Windows)

I'm currently using Microsoft 365 and while using word, my shortcut key for Bold option automatically change from 'Ctrl+B' to 'Ctrl+ N'

I have to change it back to 'Ctrl + B' manually (several times) but it keeps automatically changing to 'Ctrl + N' again and again. It is quite annoying.

I change my shortcut for Bold option back to 'crtl + B' as inserted picture

Please let me know how to set 'Ctrl + B' as a shortcut key for Bold option permamently.

    Yes, this has just happened to me too.

    1. Open Word Options:
      • Go to File > Options.
    2. Customize Ribbon:
      • Select Customize Ribbon from the left menu.
      • Click on the Customize button next to Keyboard shortcuts at the bottom.
    3. Modify Shortcut:
      • In the Categories list, select Home Tab.
      • In the Commands list, find and select Bold.
      • In the Current keys box, you might see Ctrl + N. Click on it and press Remove.
      • In the Press new shortcut key box, press Ctrl + B.
      • Click Assign and then Close.
    4. Save Changes:
      • Click OK to save your changes and close the Word Options dialog.

    I've tried charging it back several times but it doesn't work. This is ridiculous.

    If it isn't working for you, then something is preventing you from saving your template.

    If you are on a network, for example work or school/university, a login script may be deleting or replacing your Normal template each time you sign in.

    A simple test is to locate the Normal template in the user templates folder, if you are running Word on a PC, and check the time stamp. There should be a modification date when you add your keyboard shortcut (and also when you make other intentional changes that affect the template), but there should be no unexpected date & time stamps.
