"We are sorry, but this feature is deprecated" (Smart Lookup on Word for Mac)

I just right-clicked on a word to use the "Smart Lookup" feature, and I received this message, "We are sorry, but this feature is deprecated." I am a current subscriber and logged in.

I appreciate your help!

As stated in this thread and elsewhere in the forums, Smart Lookup has been discontinued. The official notice is in the article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/get-insights-into-what-you-re-working-on-with-smart-lookup-debf2083-5ac0-4739-8667-ae2467bec044.

    Saying something is deprecated means it's still there, but you should stop relying on it and plan to move away from it.

    It does NOT mean the feature has already been removed. Unless you're Microsoft, who apparently just throw darts at a dictionary to decide what word to use.

    Here's an example of Microsoft using the word correctly...

    "This article describes removed features, or features that are planned for removal in platform updates of finance and operations apps.

    • A removed feature is no longer available in the product.
    • A deprecated feature isn't in active development and may be removed in a future update."

    Telling people a feature is deprecated is informing them that they should plan to stop using it. Telling me it's deprecated after it's already been removed is asinine.
