A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Sorry about being thick. Why do you have two flows. Why could the one flow not do both?
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
The responses from Forms are no longer automatically syncing to Excel.
I received an email stating, "Please update your form before January 13, 2025 to continue seeing the most recent Forms data in Excel with the new and improved sync. If you don't update, your responses won't continue to sync after this date. To start the update, open your Form from forms.office.com or click the button below. Thanks for using Forms."
After updating, I saw the message in Excel: "The sync with Forms has been updated. This workbook will continue to sync with the latest responses from Forms. The updated sync currently works only in Excel for the web and will soon be available on desktop. Once responses are synced, you will be able to view them on both web and desktop. This update cannot be undone."
However, even after the update, it does not sync unless I open Excel in the browser.
I would like it to sync automatically again without having to open it in a browser like before.
Does "it will soon be available on desktop" mean that eventually, it will sync automatically without having to open Excel?
How long should I wait?
By the way, since the Forms were created from a Teams channel, they are likely group forms.
This is the screen when I updated it.

This "update" removed a feature (auto sync) and diminished the abilities of Forms. Auto sync was critical to many of our company's workflows. I guess I'll be looking to someone other than Microsoft to replace our current processes. This is very disappointing! Why would you remove features in a supposed "upgrade"?

I can share the workaround I did. It may be specific to my use case.
I had a form, when submitted, "automatically" updated excel with a row with all form details. The excel had a column (not part of form) called "Approval Response".
A flow was triggered whenever the form was submitted; and it waited for approval. Once approved by the approvers, it updated the approver's response in the excel row column "Approval Response".
Since the new Microsoft update, as the row was not there, the flow was failing the excel update. The initial workaround was asking the approvers to open the excel, check the record is there and then process approval for that record.
**The fix:**I created a new sheet with ID, Approval Response columns in a new table(Table2). The flow, instead of updating the excel row, inserts the ID, Approval Response into Table2. I updated the main table(data coming from form) to have "=VLOOKUP([@ID],Table2[#All],2,FALSE)" for all the rows of the "Approval Response" column. I checked that any new row created will automatically have the formula in the column. In this way, the flow does not fail; and the form is up to date as it was before. Whenever anyone opens the excel, it updates the excel and has right value in "Approval Response"
Hi Sophia,
We have 30 forms collecting 7,000 to10,000 responses monthly here at Monster Energy. Is there a way to create the auto sync using an alternative method? Prior to the Jan 13th update this was not an issue.
Thank you
