Hi Holly Kirkhope
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I realize that you've encountered a problem with " Short films in sway ", and I understand how you feel. Don't worry, I'll do my best to help you.
When uploading videos to Sway, you might encounter some format or compatibility issues. Although Sway supports various video formats, there may be certain limitations when uploading clips. Here are some potential solutions for the situations you mentioned, especially regarding MOV and MP4 formats:
1. File Format Compatibility
MP4 Format: This is usually the most compatible video format, and Sway should support MP4 files. If your video is in MP4 format, it should upload correctly. If it doesn't upload, ensure the file is not corrupted and try uploading it again.
MOV Format: Although MOV files are generally uploadable, there may be compatibility issues with certain devices or platforms. Converting the video to MP4 format, as you already tried, is the correct step since MP4 is a more widely supported format.
2. Browser or Device Issues
Switch Browsers: Try switching to a different browser, such as Microsoft Edge, to upload the video. You can also clear the browser cache and attempt the upload again.
Try Other Devices: Switching to another device to see if the video uploads correctly can help rule out external factors.
Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix website issues. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.
Feel free to share updates with me on how things are progressing after you've completed the aforementioned steps. Should you have any questions or require clarification, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I‘d like to do my utmost to assist you.
Best regards
