Excel Error "Excel ran out of resources while attempting to calculate" upon calculation interruption

I am using Excel, latest version for Mac, 16.93.1 (25011917), and following a recent update either to 16.93 or 16.93.1 I have systematically an error message if I interrupt a calculation : "Excel ran out of resources while attempting to calculate one or more formulas. As a result, these formulas cannot be evaluated." after this error I must always quit excel and restart which is very annoying. Anyone having the same issue ?

    Hi Aaron.

    I am glad that I found this post as I was complaining about this particular issue with Excel for a short while now. I found that spreadsheets that used to function fine often gave this particular error. Closing Excel and re-opening seemed to "fix" it. But I agree with you, it used to work, so a recent update must have caused the issue. I look forward to Microsoft's resolution.

    Thanks for your feedback. The sheet calculates the factorial and inverse factorial of N numbers, with N typically = 3000. To do this, I define a first function F that recursively calculates the factorial of a number, and a second function H that recursively calculates the inverse factorial of the result. H therefore calls F for each value, and BYCOL is used to parse the N Values. I am using Lambda functions to do this instead of FACT in order to replicate the issue I am having with my other excel sheets, in which I also use Lambda functions. I just tried again the Excel sheet I shared on the dropbox link and it still works (except for the very annoying issue reported in this thread). I am using Microsoft Excel for Mac version 16.95 (25030928) as part of Microsoft 365. I am not familiar with the Windows version, but it looks you are also using Excel version 16.x with Microsoft 365 so it should work.

    Me too, but typically Microsoft does not reply directly to requests for fixes. You find out by waiting for things to work right in a future update.

    I am also experiencing this problem.

    I have an excel workbook with several lambdas that process data obtained from multiple stockhistory requests

    If I pull too much stockhistory data then I get successive "Excel ran out of resources ..." popups

    If I remove the lambdas then I don't get the errors

    The problem is intermittent, a reboot clears it for a while but it always returns eventually.

    I haven't tried the workbook on older versions of excel.
