Excel Error "Excel ran out of resources while attempting to calculate" upon calculation interruption

Hi Jim, I followed your advice and tried each new version since I reported the issue, including the betas, and the issue is still there. I had to revert to Excel 16.92 because this is the latest version with which I don’t have the issue. I deactivated automatic updates for Microsoft Office, so I don’t get the latest updates or patches, only manually trying them for test purposes. I don’t know when to reactivate the automatic updates. I’d really appreciate an ETA for a fix, since the issue has been reported for 3 months...

Unfortunately, the time schedule is that fixes are released to the beta channel first. Those releases are weekly. If it appears the problem is solved in the beta channel and no new problems were introduced by the fix, then the fix becomes incorporated to the current channel release, which is monthly. From this schedule, it would appear that it could take up to 8 weeks after a successful fix is made before it reaches current channel. Microsoft relies on feedback from users of beta channel builds to determine whether the fix is working.

An update from our end - the entire MS team who has handling our support request appears to have been laid off.

All of the people we were emailing now are unknown recipients/addresses.
It seems like our support request has been "lost", despite having an issue tracking # etc

This situation has forced us to abandon using spill ranges and lambda functions. Instead we are now looking to move functionality into python-based add-ins, use Excel purely for display/UI.
I don't want to go down that path, I liked keeping logic sheet-based and transparent. But this bug is a show-stopper, we don't have the time to randomly test new Office releases. Overall quite alarmed at how MS manages regressions and incidents, at least based on this experience.

Do you have any information on Microsoft's plans for lambda functions? Do you think this part of Excel will be abandoned? Like you I do really appreciate keeping logic sheet based and wouldn’t want to be forced to use other solutions like Python or even cloud-based data processing.

Sorry I can't give any such info because we can't get any response from MS.

Our support experience has been disappointing - we provided all logs/repro/explanation, but never received any solid acknowledgement. Now the channel has gone dead, it seems.

Seemingly the issue is related to the speed of the called lambda function and/or the number of lambda functions.

I'd be surprised and disappointed if they deprecate LAMBDA, it is very useful, especially when combined with spill ranges.
