Excel Error "Excel ran out of resources while attempting to calculate" upon calculation interruption

An update from our end - the entire MS team who has handling our support request appears to have been laid off.

All of the people we were emailing now are unknown recipients/addresses.
It seems like our support request has been "lost", despite having an issue tracking # etc

This situation has forced us to abandon using spill ranges and lambda functions. Instead we are now looking to move functionality into python-based add-ins, use Excel purely for display/UI.
I don't want to go down that path, I liked keeping logic sheet-based and transparent. But this bug is a show-stopper, we don't have the time to randomly test new Office releases. Overall quite alarmed at how MS manages regressions and incidents, at least based on this experience.

Hi Jim, I followed your advice and tried each new version since I reported the issue, including the betas, and the issue is still there. I had to revert to Excel 16.92 because this is the latest version with which I don’t have the issue. I deactivated automatic updates for Microsoft Office, so I don’t get the latest updates or patches, only manually trying them for test purposes. I don’t know when to reactivate the automatic updates. I’d really appreciate an ETA for a fix, since the issue has been reported for 3 months...

Hi David, Microsoft Excel Team did reply to me confirming that they could reproduce the problem with the sample i provided them and that a bug was posted to the Mac Excel engineering team. So I am expecting to get a fix, but not sure how they manage excel bugs across platforms so just in case please feel free to use my simple example :

With a new workbook, create 2 columns like the screenshot attached : 1 starting in b5 containing the name of the current sheet in each row and one starting in c5 containing an incremental from 1 to a limit set in D4 (I entered 3000 as the limit) and create a 3rd column starting in d5 that contains in its first row the formula below (which calculates with lambda functions the factorial of each number modulo 170 in column 2 and then a simplified calculation of the inverse factorial) then you can reproduce the problem: once you hit enter in D5 which triggers the calculation of the cells, if you click in the sheet without waiting for the calculation to finish you should get the same error message. But if you wait for the calculation to finish you don't get this message. The annoying thing is that once I get this message, you have to quit Excel afterwards because it won't be able to calculate any more cells.
