Can people keep using Microsoft Publisher unsupported after the end of support date in October 2026?

I Have years worth of documents in pub format what will happen to them after 2026 ?

Which Office suite do you have? If you have a perpetual version, you will still have Publisher and can use the documents.

When I subscribed to Microsoft 365, I discovered that the older, paid-for version which I had used for years was no longer on my desktop. I think I lost that by subscribing to Microsoft 365, and in so doing, I seem to have lost the ability to use Publisher unsupported beyond its phase-out in 2026. This is unfair. [I am using a database management system, FileMaker Pro 11, which became unsupported years ago, because it still meets my needs just as well as all its subsequent upgrades. Still, what I once bought remains mine to use.] Why is all-powerful Microsoft forcing me to commit countless hours to converting my .pub documents and learning new ways of doing what Publisher has enabled me to do so comfortably for years? I can understand the need to end support as newer, more versatile software is developed, but what does Microsoft gain (vs. what I lose) by reclaiming what I bought, fair and square, and wish to continue to use? I'm sure you are covered by a blanket of fine print, but I certainly question your business ethics and your prioritization of bottom-line over customer-care. BAD NEWS!

Hello, Microsoft announced that Publisher will not be supported after 2026, but the announcement was vague so I wanted to clear up a few things:

1. Will Microsoft Publisher still be available to use (albeit unsupported) after October 2026 or will it be removed from computers that have them?
2. If it is removed, does this only apply to Microsoft 365 subscriptions or will Office 2021 lifetime standalones also have Publisher removed?
3. What if you want to continue using Publisher? Much of my work revolves around using Publisher. Is there any way to keep it after Oct. 2026?

PLEASE MICROSOFT, DO NOT PULL THE PLUG ON PUBLISHER! I agree with what everyone else has said. This is going to be a NIGHTMARE for me! I too have years and years worth of Publisher files. I cannot convert them to Word, as I keep getting an error message about there not being any text. Yes, that's why I use Publisher - because I'm using images! If I want to use text, I'll use Word. Checked YouTube and watched demonstration of converting Publisher to Word - only the text was carried over into Word - no images transferred, so this is NOT an option! Also, PDF not an option, as I need to be able to manipulate the various layers in my Publisher files. I use Publisher for my crafting hobby, which is a lifeline for me as I am disabled. I love my craft work, as it takes my mind off everything else. I can't understand why we can't just continue to use Publisher, even if unsupported. MS Designer is no use for my needs, as it is for web-only use and will not print out (or that's what I understand from what I read of Microsoft's description). Like someone else said - this isn't about the paying customer - it's about the £££££! The annual subscription to Office 365 has also taken a MASSIVE price hike! I'll be trying out Libre Office and, if this suits my needs, I won't be renewing my subscription, as I only use Publisher and Word on a regular basis. I'm not going to fork out £85 just to use Word in future.
