If it is removed, does this only apply to Microsoft 365 subscriptions or will Office 2021 lifetime standalones also have Publisher removed? What if you want to continue using Publisher? Much of my work revolves around using Publisher. Is there any way to keep it after Oct. 2026? So how do you get it separately or with Office 2021?

MS should make available a free stand-alone Publisher app, whether supported by them or not, so users who have years and years of .pub files are not faced with months, if not years, attempting to convert these to .pdf or .docx format and then have to file by file reformat the changes those conversion inevitably cause. Any subscriber to MS Office 365, who btw have just been slugged with $AUD 60 increase should be furious.

I totally agree with Rev Carolyn. I too have been using Publisher for more than twenty years for weekly news sheets and preparing service booklets for Sunday Sertvices. Converting to Word is NOT a user friendly option. Neither is saving as .pdf as file becomes un-editable ..... without purchasing another file editor!!! When it ain't broke, why fix it or delete it????

Hello, I am unsure about the 'age' of my software for Publisher, but I have been using it for many years, so hopefully I have aged well. Has Microsoft confirmed that they will remove the software? I would be 'ok' with still being able to use it without support. BTW, the other platforms that they suggest to use, are not the same in any way shape or form than Publisher. Thanks.

Publisher is being removed from the Microsoft 365 subscription in October 2026. As of March 2025, the plan is to remove it from computers that have the subscription. (This may change.)
It only applies to the Microsoft 365 subscription. Office 2021 and older are not affected. Note: Publisher is not in Office 2024.
If you have Office 2021 or older, Publisher will not be removed. Microsoft is considering options for people who are using Publisher.

Hello,

I am unsure about the 'age' of my software for Publisher, but I have been using it for many years, so hopefully I have aged well. Has Microsoft confirmed that they will remove the software?
