Hello, Microsoft announced that Publisher will not be supported after 2026, but the announcement was vague so I wanted to clear up a few things: Will Microsoft Publisher still be available to use (albeit unsupported) after October 2026 or will it be removed from computers that have them? If it is removed, does this only apply to Microsoft 365 subscriptions or will Office 2021 lifetime standalones also have Publisher removed? What if you want to continue using Publisher? Much of my work revolves around using Publisher. Is there any way to keep it after Oct. 2026? I appreciate the many responses regarding this issue. I am in my early 80's and still very actively creating with Publisher. But I am no longer interested in learning alternatives to what has served me so well for so many years. It seems that Microsoft is abandoning me, and so many like me, by making the hundreds of thousands of Publisher files we have produced over the years inaccessible for editing and re-use. I will gladly pay for a so-called "sunset" version of this invaluable application, even if Microsoft is no longer willing to support it. (By the way, in my decades of using Publisher, I can't recall a single instance of needing after-sale support.) C'mon, Microsoft! Don't become too big and powerful to care about your longtime, little-guy users.

I agree with all these comments about word and PowerPoint not being able to do the things I use Publisher for on a daily basis. And I do use those programmes too - but for other things! How can we make Microsoft listen to their customers and not delete this programme or make it inaccessible to those who wish , no NEED, to use it to continue their work effectively and to be able to continue to use templates which are stored , representing years of work which I can neither afford to lose nor ha e the time and capacity to convert into something else which will only save the text, not the actual document !

Publisher is being removed from the Microsoft 365 subscription in October 2026. As of March 2025, the plan is to remove it from computers that have the subscription. (This may change.)
It only applies to the Microsoft 365 subscription. Office 2021 and older are not affected. Note: Publisher is not in Office 2024.
If you have Office 2021 or older, Publisher will not be removed. Microsoft is considering options for people who are using Publisher.
