A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Go to the Trash, cmd-click Microsoft Word, and put it back. At least you'll have something to work with.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I don't want to use the copilot features that have automatically been added to my Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) - and I feel that this should be something that we are able to do, without having to purchase a subscription to copilot and then disable it.
How can I disable these features, to stop the shadow offer to use copilot on every new line I start on a word document and remove the icon from the tool bar?
This should be something that is an optional add on, rather than a mandated installation.

Yes indeed, this solution works. Many thanks.
I'm currently in a (very slow) conversation with Microsoft on Twitter. So far, no joy, they keep giving me menu options that I don't have, but at least they are replying. I need to get rid of Copilot on Outlook (via browser) and Word. I'm trying not to delete and re-install an old version of Word, but I will do that if I have to. If I eventually get a useful answer from MS on Twitter I will post on here.
BTW I have already downgraded to MS Classic, but my new subscription doesn't start until the summer.
This is very frustrating but many thanks to those trying to help.

For better or worse, that seems to be the only solution.
Copilot is now included in Microsoft 365 and Personal https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2025/01/16/copilot-is-now-included-in-microsoft-365-personal-and-family/
