How to disable Copilot for all applications - Mac

I don't want to use the copilot features that have automatically been added to my Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) - and I feel that this should be something that we are able to do, without having to purchase a subscription to copilot and then disable it.

How can I disable these features, to stop the shadow offer to use copilot on every new line I start on a word document and remove the icon from the tool bar?

This should be something that is an optional add on, rather than a mandated installation.

    16.93 doers not appear to shave this option. I have it on subscription and don't think I can go back to a previous version. It's just so maddening,. I feel like I'm being controlled. ARRGGHH

    It appears to be rolling out slowly to people. I still don't have it.

    But I decided to follow Jimi Odell's advice and then thought "I've hated every new thing Microsoft has added in the past two years to Word" so why top at going back to 16.89 -- it still has that awful bright blue share button which is so distracting. I found that 16.72 is the oldest version that loads reliably on Sequoia, recognizes my license, and doesn't have a giant blue share button. Maybe at some point someone at Microsoft will realize that some of us are still trying to use Word to write our own words on paper.

    Thanks for posting this - but users really, really, really should not have to go hunting for a way to have privacy for their own documents. It is absolutely terrible that Microsoft is shoving AI at users without asking. This is not just some little add-on. It's an incredibly invasive function and there are serious moral implications at play here, or do you not all understand that?

    God forbid any of you actually answer this easily. Here's the answer:

    Click Word (top of screen), click Preferences on drop down menu, then you'll see Copilot, unclick "Enable Copilot.

    If you had read even part of the thread you would see that this option was not available originally to anyone and still is not on some people's installations.
