How to disable Copilot for all applications - Mac

I agree that forcing Copilot on all MS Office users is one of the most arrogant, ignorant, misinformed, disastrous, debilitating, tone-deaf, and idiotic moves ever made. I want my voice to be heard and shared with Microsoft.

The recommended solutions do not, in fact, work. The fact that this was rolled out as an automatic opt-in is entirely against all sanity and protocol. The fact that there is no simple opt-out exacerbates the insanity. This isn't just a matter of preference or convenience, although customer reaction and customer choice should be enough to change this behavior. This action of MS has potentially damaging ramifications for anyone using this product. AI may be helpful, but it is a plague to integrity, intelligence and creativity when it isn't wanted, asked for, or desirable.

Fix. This. Now. And keep your damn hands off of my software experience unless I ask you for it or opt into it.

Whatever I paid for Office I want it refunded. I am going to use another app and hope my documents will transfer to the new program. This is a disaster. I will try Libre Offie and Neo Office to start with and be sure Copilot is not on either one of them.

First, please understand that you are not communicating with Microsoft here. These are peer-to-peer support fora hosted by Microsoft but not monitored by Microsoft employees. Some of the responders are paid agents [MSFT] but many are experienced, knowledgeable users who volunteer their time to assist others.

As recommended throughout the thread, use Help> Feedback in the program menu to submit your comments to the development group.

You also can visit the Feedback Portal for Word & cast as many votes as it will allow for each posting on the topic.

I completely agree with your sentiment, but if it eases your mind at all there are no indications in a document of Copilot having been used. Just as a suggestion, though, have you considered using PDFs rather than editable Word documents?

I've had it with MS 365. the copilot feature in the Mac version it too annoying to deal with. There needs to be a way to disable this function immediately. Guess I need to switch to Pages and Numbers. This forced shoving-down-our-throats attitude from Microsoft delays work production. My opinion...I HATE COPILOT!

Guess I'll tell patients we have to stop using Microsoft products, and delay their treatments because writing orders within Word takes too long now

Same attitude as lousy versions of PC operating systems, Vista and following versions come to mind. And finally Win 10 and 11 functional

I have the same problem as everyone else not being able to disable Copilot on my Mac. Yes I went into privacy preferences as directed. Doesn’t work. 🤬 I think screen capture sums up the situation.
