How to disable Copilot for all applications - Mac

I don't want to use the copilot features that have automatically been added to my Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) - and I feel that this should be something that we are able to do, without having to purchase a subscription to copilot and then disable it.

How can I disable these features, to stop the shadow offer to use copilot on every new line I start on a word document and remove the icon from the tool bar?

This should be something that is an optional add on, rather than a mandated installation.

    FYI for Outlook via web browser - I have been told by MS support on Twitter that I cannot remove Copilot from it because 'it is a default feature for MS products and services'.

    It can be removed from the Outlook app, which at the moment I can't use for other, equally infuriating, reasons. Seriously considering a move to icloud email, after many years of Outlook use. I'm getting too old for this ****!

    From all of the above conversations, the one option that seems to get rid of Copilot is to revert back to Word to Version 16.89.1. See the details above in the conversation string. I assume that is what you will have to do for any version of Word on any machine.

    Thanks to all that responded to my original ask. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who finds this infuriating, and to thanks to all that helped find an at least a short-term solution. Of all the responses I've read, the best line in all of them was the "I rely on my brain to write". I think there is hope for humanity.

    Version 16.93 (25011212)

    License: Microsoft 365 Subscription, Copilot for Microsoft 365

    for MacBookAir, running 13.7.2 Ventura. has Apple Chip M1

    there is no "Options" choice in the file tab to use to turn off Copilot

    there is nothing in the top bar to use to disable it

    there doesn't seem to be anything in the Preferences screen to disable it.

    THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND IRRITATING.. I do not want Microsoft control or suggestions in my documents. PERIOD. EVER.

    how do I fix this for MacBook Air ?

    None of the "solutions" to remove copilot work. I'm Word ver 16.93 (MS 365 family) on my MacBook. I don't even have access to all the Word features but instead of correcting that, they chose to add a program that we cannot remove.
