Why is my computer still using Microsoft Office 2021 after installing Office 2024?

Hi Jamez, Yes some stores do add Pro Plus versions of Office. Also, a free trial version of Microsoft 365 is added to all new computers, which causes problem when user tries to install a perpetual version of Office. A store should NOT install a retail version of Microsoft Office, it messes it up for the customer. This is because to do so they need to use their Microsoft Account (email address). This means the customer can NEVER reinstall their Office or do an Online repair. If the store does not install Office and give you a Product Key Card that will be fine. Note: Once a Product Key has been used to redeem Office, it cannot be used again to reinstall Office. The Microsoft Account used with the Product Key to redeem Office in the first place is used.

Your Microsoft Office Home & Business 2021 and Microsoft Office Home & Business 2024 will probably be showing you can switch at the Office Account page.

You should be able to reinstall all three versions of Office you have at: https://account.microsoft.com/services using the Microsoft Account associated with your Offices.

I know it gets complicated; it is not easy to explain either!

I see "Office Professional 2024" in the About section, but it's not Office Professional 2024 because the actual program is identical in look and services to 2021. That's the problem: Microsoft got promoters to show that the Office Professional 2024 had a new look, and what I'm seeing is definitely just the same Office Professional 2021 I've had and used for the past three years.

if we need to format the local disk just to get 2024 version working sorry but that is absurd ! Although I unistall the 2021 version and install the 2024 one it keeps reverting to 2021 ! If somebody can help he is more than welcome !

Even if you uninstall 2021 it still shows 2021 in the Product Information Box

Open WORD go to File/Account and in the top right select the SWITCH LICENSE box. Then select MICROSOFT HOME AND BUSINESS 2024.

This is similar to my experience. You'll find my original question and the "solutions" to the problem. It now appears that there is no sure way to fix what Microsoft has done, and all the responses from Microsoft on this thread are just "Here, try this" deflections. Microsoft will not offer refunds, and it won't reel back and fix whatever the underlying problem is so all of the purchasers can uninstall the failed version and installed the fixed version. As I am now convinced from my original post, I paid $250 for vaporware. So did all of you, here.
