I think somebody deduced that it was from something you said, but looking back at the image of the Navigation Pane you posted, that does not seem to be the case. If it were split the table icons would have a little arrow symbol to their left, which they don't. Quite why you are having difficulty adding a field is a mystery therefore.

I'm off to run errands. I contacted my computer geek friend. Do think he will be able to figure it out??

We don't even know this person's name, let alone his qualifications. If he makes his living selling computers, there's an outside chance he might know enough about Windows to help you.

I think you need to be a little more familiar with how Windows works. From what you are saying the issue is not so much Access but Windows.

You need to learn how to use Windows Explorer as well as Basic Access functions.

I think the better option for you is to get someone to tutor through remote access. I have done that for clients, If interested you can contact me through my blog
