From Microsoft Works to Access

I want to manually select data through the process of Designing. And I am continually editing along the way until I get to a final selection. I thought that I would add a field and call it a selection field. that way I could add my clients name. But a window pops up that says that my database is compromised and I cannot do it. What do you suggest??

Well..... I had to do something with over 1,000 entries when I moved to a new computer. The person I bought the computer from moved the database to both Libre Office and Microsoft Office which I paid $69.00 for. Where else could all that data go?? I can read the data just fine in both. I want to be able to manipulate it so I can use it. I am a Landscape Designer and my database is a plant catalog. I refer to it through the process of designing a landscape then make a document of those plants that I have chosen then give it to the client. Works was great for 30 years. Now I need to make either Libre Office work or Microsoft Office work. How can you help me?? Thank you for your reply.

Works cannot directly translate to Access. You can , however, export the data and build a new Access database.

To help ypu further you need to describe exactly what you are doing nd what happens when you do it.

Are you suggesting you opened a table in design and couldn’t add a new field? Did you get an error message?

Are the tables linked or local?

A professional did it for me. I tried to add a field and it wouldn't let me. I'm concerned that I won't be able to manipulate it in reports. I wanted to add a selection field.
