Excel STOCKHISTORY() function repeatedly encounters #CONNECT! error.

Hi Team,

I spent over 2 hours troubleshooting this issue with an advocate in Office support (7*********0). He worked very hard to understand and resolve the issue.

We tried numerous resets: the network, uninstalling and reinstalling office, updating office, powering down, and restarting the computer. Nothing helped.

The issue occurs in approximately 20% of the values for a list of stocks and one date. It occurs in a similar percentage of dates for a single stock.

Ultimately we discovered that creating a new spreadsheet and typing or pasting the formula into an empty cell will not result in the #CONNECT! error. But this does not work in previously created spreadsheets.

Please check on this as soon as possible. This is a critical function for applying Excel to stock research.

    Hi Thomas,

    I appreciate your trying to help as, I am sure, others do, but as of 8/29/2024 the issue persisits. Is something else being done? Asking people to be patient for such a long period of time is really not right, given how much users rely on these updates when they use the function.

    I would really appreciate an update on the issue, along with an ETA for a fix.

    As of today (8/29/2024) things are back to #CONNECT! errors on roughly half of all the values of all my spreadsheets that use STOCKHISTORY.

    This is making them completely unusable, and I don't see a response from Microsoft.

    Please help.

    What I am experiencing now is that the data update, but periods are being repeated (vertically) several times within the output of the STOCKHISTORY() column. So you will see, f. ex., monthly results from 01/2011 until 01/2018, and then the data will repeat, in the same column, under the previous dates, and go until 08/2024.

    This makes all calculations and charts void, so it's just as bad as not getting an update. I would have to go and delete all these rows for each stock, and even then, the update instantly recreates the problem.

    Same here.

    Another issue worth noting is that when the data updates, I sometimes get a warning saying the not all tickers where updated and in such cases the most recent data is left. The problem is that it does not show which ticker did not update so it makes my formulas unreliable.
