Excel STOCKHISTORY() function repeatedly encounters #CONNECT! error.

Hi Team,

I spent over 2 hours troubleshooting this issue with an advocate in Office support (7*********0). He worked very hard to understand and resolve the issue.

We tried numerous resets: the network, uninstalling and reinstalling office, updating office, powering down, and restarting the computer. Nothing helped.

The issue occurs in approximately 20% of the values for a list of stocks and one date. It occurs in a similar percentage of dates for a single stock.

Ultimately we discovered that creating a new spreadsheet and typing or pasting the formula into an empty cell will not result in the #CONNECT! error. But this does not work in previously created spreadsheets.

Please check on this as soon as possible. This is a critical function for applying Excel to stock research.

    Indeed, its a problem when you have a system that relies on this information to make trading decisions.

    Everything seems to be working today, so it is intermittent. The problem is that it fails when you least expect it and most need it, lol

    Congrats on your option wins, I trade several strategies myself and one day hope to create a bot for some systems strategies that I am backtesting

    Hope this stays fix for good

    When I first heard of this I thought it was great and used it for a couple years.

    Now that it is so unreliable and flakey I stopped using it.

    I don't have time to fiddle with something that I cannot rely upon.

    I do lose some functionality by using just the stock | data function in MS Excel but it has proven reliable and gets me to 90% of what I want/need.

    If I were more used to Google Sheets I "suspect" it might provide a good substitute.

    Today, without it, I'm up $758.49 on two option trades (BROS call, CLS vertical spread) and SSYS (200 shares of stock).

    So, I've learned / created other tools that get me to where I want to go.

    Breakdowns have been occurring sporadically for the past few weeks every other day or so. Then the problem goes away after time - varying from a few minutes to overnight. I've also found that closing and reopening the workbook sometimes, but not always, helps. I've also found that the problem may occur on one workbook but not on another at the same time.

    Errors are usually CONNECT! or SPILL! errors.
