List of Figures - Hyperlink is taking me to SharePoint instead of the destination in the document

Based on my test, the links in table of figures should work after you click on Ctrl+Click in a shared file in Word for the web or the Word application like the following.

Click on Test2 and you will be redirected to Test2 on Page2 in Word for the web and the Word application.

May I know whether the issue occurs suddenly? If yes, what did you do before the issue occurred?

If you create a simple file with table of figures at your side and share it with a user, will the issue also happen?

Does the issue occur in both the Word application and Word for the web in your environment?

This is a document our group has worked on for a long time and that works fine when opened from OneDrive and viewed in my desktop Word for Mac. But if I right click on the Label "Figure x" in the Table of Figures I can see that it is a hyperlink to the specific document in its location in the OneDrive Sharepoint folder, rather then "Current Document." If I try to download the document and save it locally on my Mac so that I can then deliver it to a client, when I click on the "Figure x" in the Table of Figures, the default web browser opens and goes to the Sharepoint login site rather than going to the figure in the locally saved document. Any way to correct this?

I solved it: I was working on an older Mac which is stuck at MacOS 10.15 Catalina. This does not allow Word updates, and I think there was a problem syncing changes that I had made in the Figure numbering codes to the Sharepoint Word doc. When working and downloading to my MacBook running Ventura with updated Word there is no problem.

One interesting point is that when I save a doc as pdf, I get two Update Fields changes noted at the top ribbon in the backward arrow and a prompt to save the changes. But when I look in track changes, there are no changes. I think Word obligately updates fields when saving to a pdf, but if there are no problems with the fields there are no changes. Let me know if this is correct. Both the original doc and the pdf appear perfect in this particular case.
