Hi,
I've been working with hundreds of presentations using YouTube videos and had no trouble with ads till now (8/5/24).
I have a Premium YouTube account and have spoken with tech support at YouTube and Microsoft. The problem remains unresolved.
Help!
Alyson

Hi Jodie,
Thank you for this.
I experimented with PowerPoint online but I found the functionality to be minimal compared to the PowerPoint local app.
In particular, at least for me, when you go to the slide with the Youtube video, the video doesn't play automatically. And, after the video plays, you need to exit the presentation to get back to the slides.
I will often start a video when I'm away from my laptop using a clicker. With PowerPoint online, I can't do that.
What I'm doing is downloading the videos and inserting them into my PowerPoint from my hard drive. It's not ideal, but it works.
I would wish for this problem to just go away, but I can't count on that. I need to prepare my presentations for the Fall semester beginning Sept 3.
Sigh...

Unfortunately this is just a work around I’ve worked out for YouTube videos to play without ads, while we wait for Msoft to fix it, which could take months (if they even acknowledge it :( )
We work in education, so trying to keep teachers running as best we can is all we can do :(
Fingers crossed it gets resolved sooner rather than later!
Good luck for the semester
I posted it under ‘PowerPoint’ on Microsoft’s feedback forum, where you list all the things for their developers.
I’ll try and find the direct link for it later today (I’m heading to work)
Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of Google slides functionality wise
