Hi,
I've been working with hundreds of presentations using YouTube videos and had no trouble with ads till now (8/5/24).
I have a Premium YouTube account and have spoken with tech support at YouTube and Microsoft. The problem remains unresolved.

I trim the downloaded youtube clips in Powerpoint (you cant trim a youtube clip unless it’s been downloaded—there are several free ones, just google “YouTube to mp4 free”). It’s labor intensive but you never have to worry about google slapping an ad in front of it.
Microsoft can solve this problem.
As with many apps they can run their browser as a background invisible task.
This would handle the identity and YouTube premier account authentication issues.
All their "3rd party app" powerpoint would need to do is present the video which the browser is fully legally watching in the background.
Many Microsoft apps keep their scale down by running other existing apps in background. So they have precedent for this.
AND it only works for fully paid up Youtube add free subscribers so google should be happy too!
This must be why using online-PowerPoint in a browser doesn't have the problem. So they already have this fix they just need to bring it out of the cloud into desktop powerpoint.
Well, actually using their online Powerpoint app (through office.com AND via Chrome) DOES solve the problem—ads do not appear if you’re a YouTube Premium subscriber. However, the online Powerpoint app is severely limited in its playback controls (you can’t advance to the next slide until the YouTube clip is completed, for example).
The answer we all seem to be looking for is a return to the “good old days” of two weeks ago, when the dedicated Powerpoint app could handle an inserted YouTube clip without running ads and with the flexibility and control of Powerpoint.
I hope your proposal that this is something Microsoft CAN solve is viable.

Interesting idea!
At one time, you could embed a browser in a PPT slide, which also would have solved this problem, but alas, in the interest of security, this was disabled.
On the other hand, YouTube has made changes that broke PowerPoint's links in the past, but it got worked out and though we had to re-create links to YouTube content, at least they worked again.
With luck, a MS-Google-YouTube tête-a-tête can/will solve the problem again.
Meanwhile, folks, PLEASE do the File | Send Feedback thing and report the problem. We really do want to make MS aware of how many people this is affecting. It matters.
I agree! I've been using YouTube videos every Sunday for one of my clients since April 2023 with NO ADS! Trying to be of assistance to a small congregation that have members at home. This is a problem!!!
