Hi,

I've been working with hundreds of presentations using YouTube videos and had no trouble with ads till now (8/5/24).

I have a Premium YouTube account and have spoken with tech support at YouTube and Microsoft. The problem remains unresolved.

Help!
Alyson

    Dear alyson lie,

Good day. Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, you insert a YouTube video in PowerPoint and suddenly an advert appears, even though you have a Premium account with YuTube.

To narrow down the issue and focus on the specific scenario, could you tell me the following information?

    1. If you insert a local video, do adverts pop up as well?
    2. May I know if the same thing happens when you use PowerPoint online?

Thank you for your patience and time.

    Sincerely,

    1. There are no ads if the video is from my computer
    2. This is PowerPoint app on a Windows laptop.

Again, this new. I’ve created hundreds of presentations without ads appearing.

    Thanks,

    A

    Dear alyson lie,

    Thank you for patient update.

As we need to continue troubleshooting whether the issue is caused by the PowerPoint client or by YuTube itself, I recommend you try inserting a YuTube video into PowerPoint Online or other third-party application to see if the ads appear.

I noticed that you mentioned this issue occurred suddenly, for further troubleshooting please create the new profile in Windows and check if the as appear. Reference for you: Manage user accounts in Windows - Microsoft Support

Furthermore, may I know if you access YouTube via VPN? And if there is any difference between the URL of the video on YuTube and the URL you inserted on the PowerPoint?

Thank you for your time and patience.

    Sincerely,

There are a few suggestions here; a couple of them might be worth trying:

    Hi,

    Thank you for your help.

    I did as you said.

    1. In PowerPoint online the ads don't appear, at least on the two videos I inserted. However, I wouldn't want to work online because I would lose all the work I've already done and there appears to be much less functionality.
    2. I also set up a new user account and in that case, the ads did appear.
    3. I access YouTube through my personal account the way I always have.
    4. Yes... the URL is copied directly from the YouTube site

I worked with Microsoft assistance a few days ago on this and was given this reference number: 7048067952.

This is all very upsetting as I only have a few weeks to prepare my lessons for the classes I teach at a music school.

    Thank you,

    Alyson
