Hi,

I've been working with hundreds of presentations using YouTube videos and had no trouble with ads till now (8/5/24).

I have a Premium YouTube account and have spoken with tech support at YouTube and Microsoft. The problem remains unresolved.

Help!

    Onward,

Thank you for your response. I have already cancelled my youtube premium subscription as using it for PowerPoint was my main reason for using it. I will try reaching out to Google. I would think this would be a major issue.

When I copy the URL over to PowerPoint it is the exact same URL but PowerPoint plays ads. For a tech novice this is so frustrating. This is Big Tech at its worst. I am going to try other avenues outside of these two companies as the advertisements are Political, it's just not right.

    Hi,

Sorry you’re having the same problem. It’s thrown s huge wrench in my planning for fall semester at a the music school where I teach.

I don’t know if anyone is actually following up on this.

I’ve been in chats with a couple Microsoft people and they know the problem is unresolved. I think the responsibility is more in the hands of YouTube. Someone I spoke to there said the ads in 3rd party aps are as intended.

    Onward,

I am having the same issue with Advertisements showing in PowerPoint and I have a paid subscription to Youtube premium.

It is so frustrating and I know it started exactly two weeks ago as I prepare our churches PowerPoint presentation and play music videos. It was so embarrassing to have a political advertisement on screen during church service.

I am so disappointed with Microsoft I am thinking of moving over to Mac for my home and church computers.

I am new to this platform is someone from Microsoft actually looking into the issue or has the decision been final. PowerPoint is basically useless for presentations if it is going to show ads.

    Paul,

That is exactly my experience as well.

I've never had a problem until last week when I started to review my PowerPoints from last semester for the upcoming fall semester. I was shocked and dismayed that all the work I put into my presentations has to be redone.

I teach college writing at a music school and always play music at the beginning of class and during our writing sessions.

Today I tried using PowerPoint online but it's not really comparable in terms of functionality. The ads don't play but the videos don't play automatically either. You have to click on the play button. It seems they are playing in YouTube because once they're over you have to exit the presentation and restart it.

Now I'm downloading music so I don't have to deal with the problem then inserting from my drive. Problem then is there's no thumbnail image.

    What a mess!

    Good luck!

    Alyson

It is frustrating - all devices are Windows.

I experienced the change approx 2 weeks ago. Prior to that I had no issues. I was able to play a Youtube video (Premium Subscription) in powerpoint and play them with no ads. Now - the ads are playing at the commencement of playing the Youtube video whilst in presentation mode.

I will add that I can play the Youtube videos whilst on the Youtube site without any ads. It works perfectly fine
