Hi,

I've been working with hundreds of presentations using YouTube videos and had no trouble with ads till now (8/5/24).

I have a Premium YouTube account and have spoken with tech support at YouTube and Microsoft. The problem remains unresolved.

Help!

I also have experienced this issue on my school windows laptop. However, as of now, it does seem to work as before on my Macbook Powerpoint app. If you have access to a mac, you might could try and see if it fixes the issue for you. However, they could patch that at any time I suppose.

I considered the download idea and I’ve done that for a few videos I wanted to edit, but I’m running out of space on my hard drive.

The premium download function doesn’t send to your computer as far as I understand it. For that you use a YouTube converter.

Someone else in this thread has mentioned the same problem with YouTube and confirmed that this is a recent development.

    Onward,

It certainly sounds as though YouTube has changed their terms of service to allow them to display ads in videos hosted in other programs (web sites other than theirs, PowerPoint, etc).

Does the Premium service allow you to download videos? If so, that might be a workaround (though a tedious one): Download the video to your computer then insert it from there.

Another approach would be to use video capture software to capture the video as you play it directly from YouTube, though I'm fairly certain that this would NOT be within YouTube's terms of service and might get you into legal trouble if they catch on. There. You've been warned. :-)

There are a few suggestions here; a couple of them might be worth trying:

    Dear alyson lie,

Good day. Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, you insert a YouTube video in PowerPoint and suddenly an advert appears, even though you have a Premium account with YuTube.

To narrow down the issue and focus on the specific scenario, could you tell me the following information?

    1. If you insert a local video, do adverts pop up as well?
    2. May I know if the same thing happens when you use PowerPoint online?

Thank you for your patience and time.

    Sincerely,

    Claire | Microsoft Community Moderator
