Is Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) Dead? November 2024. I see its migrated to Get Help.

I can't seem to open it anymore.

It was my very effective tool to troubleshoot Office application problems.

Can you help provide alternatives? and must be a Microsoft product like SaRa.

    The feedback is definitely being read. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that all suggestions will be implemented.

    Not surprisingly, Microsoft being a commercial business, what they implement will be based on business decisions. For example, if many users request a change, it has a greater chance of coming true.

    150% - I think the get help runs the command line SARA office scrub ok, but some remnants get left behind or processes keep running that block older or local installs of office using xml. I wiped a surface pro and it installed fine so it's not my xml or anything other than the new SARA tool not doing as good of a job somehow...

    are the other office wipe tools 3rd party that work as well to scrub the entire machine? would I need to do the cmd line sara scrub on all user accounts perhaps?

    maddening.....

    Get Help is HOT GARBAGE. Pure and simple. It introduces significant delays because it is all "online" and all it does is call to the SaRa command line tool.

    Stop trying to be Apple. Stop fixing things that are not broken. The SaRa tool was ONE tool that actually worked, so why did you feel the need to break it and make it web based and sluggish, inefficient, and ineffective.

    GIVE US THE OLD SARA PLEASE.

    Why the hell does Microsoft chose to continually cr** all over it's customer base, or more precisely the people who have to implement their often ill functioning products on behalf of customers?

    The removal tool, or versions of it, have worked for a number of years and prove very useful in removing unnecessary or unwanted versions of Microsofts Office suite.

    Now suddenly we end up on an ill functioning website going round in ever fustratring circles.

    I have now had to start manually removing the software as the much vaunted Uninstall feature under Apps does exactly nothing.

    Yes nothing.

    I managed yesterday to manullay remove all (or appartently all) of the directories and registry entries for the various versions of Office off a laptop.

    Then I installed the version of Office I wanted.

    Of course then getting Project on it was another hit6 and miss affair.

    Today I went through same provedure but hey presto all the various versions of Office are still there on the latop.

    ****.

    Why can't you just leave things alone.

    If it aint broke don't try fix it.
