Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) is Dead? November 2024

Literally ran into this yesterday, and it was not fun. Basically, had to manually delete all of O365 and reinstall

Something that would have taken a few minutes led to a half hour

Did find some Enterprise command line version, after the fact, but seriously, when is WINDOWS going to be Windows and quit trying to be, MAC, Linux or any other OS?

I have to agree with the OP ... I absolutely hate the Get Help app... It does not function anything like SaRA did at all. It was quick and simple for myself and my team to use SaRA for many different things. Get Help is really dumbed down and quite honestly sucks.

Microsoft please give us the option to continue to use SaRA if we want to!! That tool was sooo much more polished and easier to use.

yes this is true.... it doesn't scrub a damn thing now the cmd prompt runs sara but it fails, so any subsequent Office install fails as well and the only remedy is to wipe the device. So sad... this is how they push harder for paid monthly 365 I guess...

The new get help tool is utterly useless... Please re-instate the SaRa tool...

This was the straw.

I've been thinking about this since 2010.. And enough is enough.

And I've just sent a newsletter to all of my clients saying we are done with promoting MS products.

We will continue to support you as a business but we as an organisation are done with MS, its clear the management at MS have lost there way and continues to dump on everyone else with this garbage.

We are offering free training and demos of linux systems and non MS infrastructure.

And we will help our clients migrate away from MS could offering.

It might only be 250 seats I manage directly in total.

But its about 50k per year I'm going to do my damndest to take away from MS over the next couple of years.

Why the hell does Microsoft chose to continually cr** all over it's customer base, or more precisely the people who have to implement their often ill functioning products on behalf of customers?

The removal tool, or versions of it, have worked for a number of years and prove very useful in removing unnecessary or unwanted versions of Microsofts Office suite.

Now suddenly we end up on an ill functioning website going round in ever fustratring circles.

I have now had to start manually removing the software as the much vaunted Uninstall feature under Apps does exactly nothing.

Yes nothing.

I managed yesterday to manullay remove all (or appartently all) of the directories and registry entries for the various versions of Office off a laptop.

Then I installed the version of Office I wanted.

Of course then getting Project on it was another hit6 and miss affair.

Today I went through same provedure but hey presto all the various versions of Office are still there on the latop.

Why can't you just leave things alone.

If it aint broke don't try fix it.
