Did you upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit Access at that update? The symptom described is one that is seen with that change, so we must first rule it out. Also take a screenshot of the Access version you are using, showing the version, as Tom Wickerath showed. We need that detail to know where to look.

Do you have VBA code present? If yes, does it compile without errors?

Hi, I'm facing the exact same issue in the exact same Access version (64bit). Everything runs fine except the InStr() function in my SELECT query. Before 6/4/2024, everything (including the InStr() function) ran normally. But today, when I run the query, MS Access crashes and quits. Please help. Thanks in advance.

This works:

SELECT Table1.Text1, InStr(1,[Text1],"x") AS Field2

FROM Table1;

	Query1

Posted to X	11
Next	3
axe	2
None	0
extreme	2
wax	3

This crashes MS Access before returning any results:

SELECT Table1.Text1, InStr(1,[Text1],"x") AS Field2

FROM Table1

WHERE (((InStr(1,[Text1],"x"))>0));

Hi,

I installed the new version 2404 which was published on May 1. In my tests the bug has been fixed.

Therefore, I've updated our documenting article on AFo with the fix information.
