Tom, Here is an example database with the one table, and 2 queries. One works on all versions of Access, including 2402. The other one crashes only on version 2403. Tom, I'm on a slightly later version than you are. When I was on version 2308, things ran fine for me, too. Another of my PCs running version 2402 is also not affected by this bug.

OMG, thank you, Tom! I managed to change to the Semi-Annual channel and I'm able to roll back to an older Office version. Everything works as normal now. Thanks so much again! =D

This works:

SELECT Table1.Text1, InStr(1,[Text1],"x") AS Field2

This crashes MS Access before returning any results:

Hi,

I installed the new version 2404 which was published on May 1. In my tests the bug has been fixed.

Therefore, I've updated our documenting article on AFo with the fix information.

OMG, thank you, Tom! I managed to change to the Semi-Annual channel and I'm able to roll back to an older Office version.
