I cannot remove the 'ctrl and click option for hyperlink - I JUST want to click on the cell and automatically open the hyperlink.

I have a document I share using Excel online via onedrive. I update it in on the desktop app and people access it via a link, and view it on the Web version.

Up until yesterday, a viewer would be able to click a cells with a hyperlink to another sheet in the workbook, and it would automatically take them there. Today, every single cell with a hyperlink requests the viewer to 'ctrl and click' to follow the hyperlink.

I have gone though every single option on my desktop Excel app to try and turn off this 'ctrl and click' functuon but I genuinely cannot find anything relevant or that has worked. I have the latest version of Excel for Mac and I haven't changed any settings.

Please, how do I make hyperlinks work automatically again? Thank you!!

I found that hovering over the link pops up the link. Click it and the tab opens as the active tab.

I Found a work around, select Cell / right click mouse / link options /open link

    Further... when I CTRL-click, a new tab created, but in the background. When I click a link, I want to see that link. I shouldn't have to click once again to open that link.

    I 1000% percent agree. [Ctrl] + Click should be an option and not enabled as default.

    I also look forward to Microsoft undoing this "update" and allowing [ctrl] + click as an option.

    The number of people who rely on my spreadsheets with hyperlinks have ALL reached out to me asking me how to "disable" the [ctrl] + click option. Microsoft: Fix this. Thanks!
