I have a document I share using Excel online via onedrive. I update it in on the desktop app and people access it via a link, and view it on the Web version.
Up until yesterday, a viewer would be able to click a cells with a hyperlink to another sheet in the workbook, and it would automatically take them there. Today, every single cell with a hyperlink requests the viewer to 'ctrl and click' to follow the hyperlink.
I have gone though every single option on my desktop Excel app to try and turn off this 'ctrl and click' functuon but I genuinely cannot find anything relevant or that has worked. I have the latest version of Excel for Mac and I haven't changed any settings.
Please, how do I make hyperlinks work automatically again? Thank you!!

I found that hovering over the link pops up the link. Click it and the tab opens as the active tab.
I Found a work around, select Cell / right click mouse / link options /open link

as an fyi, when I click file > options I do not get the Advanced option. The only option I see is "regional format settings"
I think your solution only works for the windows version. I am using the onedrive version through my chromebook. Up until last week, everything was working fine. While I can still access the links, it's not instant. It's kind of frustrating. please advise.
I am havingthe same issue. Saw another question posted See "HOW do I turn off Ctrl+Click option for opening hyperlinks I added to cells in Excel on OneDrive?". According to the person there is a new built in feature. This is extremely infuriating as i work with links on OneDrive constantly.

do these guys not realize that they are destroying the web experience...an experience that has been in place since the beginning of the world wide web? imagine going to Amazon.com and trying to search and shop with this ctrl+click experience. it would cause an immediate 25% drop in revenue overnight...at least. and new e-commerce sites that have instant click would pop up and swoop in to eat up all those frustrated customers. this is beyond insane that someone would deliberately do this as a planned "step forward"
