I cannot remove the 'ctrl and click option for hyperlink - I JUST want to click on the cell and automatically open the hyperlink.

I have a document I share using Excel online via onedrive. I update it in on the desktop app and people access it via a link, and view it on the Web version.

Up until yesterday, a viewer would be able to click a cells with a hyperlink to another sheet in the workbook, and it would automatically take them there. Today, every single cell with a hyperlink requests the viewer to 'ctrl and click' to follow the hyperlink.

I have gone though every single option on my desktop Excel app to try and turn off this 'ctrl and click' functuon but I genuinely cannot find anything relevant or that has worked. I have the latest version of Excel for Mac and I haven't changed any settings.

Please, how do I make hyperlinks work automatically again? Thank you!!

I found that hovering over the link pops up the link. Click it and the tab opens as the active tab.

I Found a work around, select Cell / right click mouse / link options /open link

    Unfortunately, mine started doing this 2 days ago, what a headache. I thought this was something I changed, and I spent a couple hours looking through all my settings, looked all over the internet for a fix and even asked the Microsoft copilot.

    I guess I'll just start opening my SharePoint files in the app rather than the web version until a fix is made.

    I know its not a solve but if you hover over the linked cell the link appears and you can click on it to open in a new tab
