I want to disable Excel 365 performance improvement auto-nags

This is about repetitive screen clutter, it doesn't need to be there so let's switch it off. I'll point out that contract worker such as myself have no scope to change the settings of the working models of companies we work at. So on a daily basis we have to clean away screen trash which is electronically generated by a Microsoft product. Screen space is always at a premium.

Now the answers on the above link completely skip around the issue - if anything they misunderstand what the questioner is driving at. As another person irritated by intrusive - let's call it feature creep (harsher words could be used) - I'm bemused that increasing product complexity isn't accompanied by ways to clean things up by eg turning off nags.

The issue hasn't gone away. It isn't solved. And yes - just to be clear - I'm perfectly able to redesign spreadsheets to make them more efficient and limit bloat - and I do this if it's in my remit.

I'm also aware that answers can be phrased to close down issues that aren't going to be fixed.

    I repeat. Are they still working on it?

    What exactly does "working on it" mean in this context? Are they actually in the process of addressing the issue? Are they getting beers after work and laughing about it? Did you merely send a brief message over Teams that received a thumbs-up response from "Microsoft" a month ago?

    These are very serious questions that someone needs to ask, and more importantly someone needs to answer.

    it is now July 17, 2024 and still not updated. tick tock microsoft tick tock.

    I found 3 other threads addressing this issue and all had no solution. One even said that MS programmers are working on the solution but that it is turning out to be harder than they anticipated. REALLY?!? learn to code bro

    I build complex Excel sheets with TONS of formatted data. I simply cannot use any app that can make any action or inspection that I did not start deliberately.

    What is the last desktop-only Excel version... 

     **(a) without "Performance Check" and**  

 **(b) without any MS 365, Office 365, or OneDrive integration?**

    I'm like a home builder who bought a pick-up to do my job. I'm upset that Microsoft grabbed my truck without asking, and left a Tesla that thinks it knows how to frame a house.

    What if you could add a separate dial to make one side lighter or darker than the other side?  And what if you added another dial or lever to make the bread rack wider (e.g., Texas Toast)?  And what if you added another dial or lever to make the bread rack deeper?  And what if you added another dial to make the crust lighter or darker?  And what if you added four dials to make each of the four sides of the bread lighter or darker?  And what if you added a humidistat to monitor the moisture level of the bread…maybe even a switch to make the toaster turn off if the moisture level dropped below a set level, as determined by another dial?  And what if we replaced the lever with a button that automatically lowers the bread and raises the bread?  And what if we added a dial that adjusted the speed at which the bread lowers and raises? 

    This is what Microsoft has done with Word and Excel.  They haven’t built a better toaster.  They just piled on a ton of useless features that no one was really clamoring for.
