This is about repetitive screen clutter, it doesn't need to be there so let's switch it off. I'll point out that contract worker such as myself have no scope to change the settings of the working models of companies we work at. So on a daily basis we have to clean away screen trash which is electronically generated by a Microsoft product. Screen space is always at a premium.

Now the answers on the above link completely skip around the issue - if anything they misunderstand what the questioner is driving at. As another person irritated by intrusive - let's call it feature creep (harsher words could be used) - I'm bemused that increasing product complexity isn't accompanied by ways to clean things up by eg turning off nags.

The issue hasn't gone away. It isn't solved. And yes - just to be clear - I'm perfectly able to redesign spreadsheets to make them more efficient and limit bloat - and I do this if it's in my remit.

I'm also aware that answers can be phrased to close down issues that aren't going to be fixed.

    Like I get it, they want to ensure that users have an optimum experience with excel. In that vein I understand a notification letting the user know that certain choices made in the formatting of their file may cause slowdowns and that it is not excel itself that may be causing a poor user experience. HOWEVER! A popup that persists leading to continuously having to acknowledge it every time it is used is in very poor taste. While the popup is out of the way at the top it has the alert format which is distracting and it takes valuable screen real-estate.

    It is not unreasonable to have the alert to let the user know, THE FIRST TIME, but allow the user to permanently disable specific alerts. The answer of it is not possible because it would take a lot of coding is wholly unacceptable.

    This problem is on par with the suggestion, "Every'nt many book," and is about as old.

    I have a project that contains more than 100 workbooks. Each and every one - each and every time - pops this stupid bar.

    Maybe it doesn't like my conditional formatting, or maybe the conditional formatting can't automatically fix from legacy entry (legacy meaning from before when it would break the format ranges when adding a row or column).

    However, it doesn't matter. You do NOT add features that can not be turned off. Ever. Especially features that you only _hope_ will be useful.

    This ain't it, chief.

    Unfortunately, there is no way to disable these notifications. The only way is to dismiss the notifications.

    You may send feedback on Feedback Portal. Hope Product team will add such option in the near future.

    Many people have already sent feedback on the Feedback Portal. The gripe is something like this shouldn't have been implemented in the first place. The frustration with this issue is only in small part that no fix is available and no movement or official response from the dev team has been given. A lot of the frustration is the mindset and lack of voice of the customer that the dev team felt it was ok to build the notification in such a way that it can't be turned off. It shows a lack of attention to detail, and a lack of a robust QC process. I fosters a lack of trust that MICROSOFT with some of the deepest pocket available and a flagship program as ubiquitous as EXCEL used by professionals globally can't pay the right engineers and coders enough money to get the job done right. Everyone uses excel to some degree and as such one would think they would want to do it right.

    That's why this response does not answer the question. Because it is lacking any substance for an issue vocalized by many people.

    Very well said. It is a LACK of CARING about a product and the USERS.

    You would think that a UI research group would work with users about this type of change prior to final implementation. And since when is there an option put it that you CAN'T turn off?

    All Microsoft has to do is BACKOUT this change. Yet they REFUSE to HELP the community. Why?
