This is about repetitive screen clutter, it doesn't need to be there so let's switch it off. I'll point out that contract worker such as myself have no scope to change the settings of the working models of companies we work at. So on a daily basis we have to clean away screen trash which is electronically generated by a Microsoft product. Screen space is always at a premium.
Now the answers on the above link completely skip around the issue - if anything they misunderstand what the questioner is driving at. As another person irritated by intrusive - let's call it feature creep (harsher words could be used) - I'm bemused that increasing product complexity isn't accompanied by ways to clean things up by eg turning off nags.
The issue hasn't gone away. It isn't solved. And yes - just to be clear - I'm perfectly able to redesign spreadsheets to make them more efficient and limit bloat - and I do this if it's in my remit.
I'm also aware that answers can be phrased to close down issues that aren't going to be fixed.

microsoft needs to change its policy vs its customers : send notifications only for ISSUES.
for improvements concerning slow excel files, just provide web pages with info.

2024-09-02T03:38:26+00:00 MY spreadsheets are formatted the way they are because THAT IS THE WAY WE WANT IT! Get rid of the NAG that is deteriorating my PC performance by wasting MY CPU cycles on itself.
What genius decided this would be a good idea to inflict on 100% of the users with no way to turn it off. It just beggars belief that this got the go-ahead.
My 'IT' Support guys describe MS as 'nothing but a bunch of cowboys'. The sh!tifiaction of MS Office has really ramped up the last few years.
