This is about repetitive screen clutter, it doesn't need to be there so let's switch it off. I'll point out that contract worker such as myself have no scope to change the settings of the working models of companies we work at. So on a daily basis we have to clean away screen trash which is electronically generated by a Microsoft product. Screen space is always at a premium.
Now the answers on the above link completely skip around the issue - if anything they misunderstand what the questioner is driving at. As another person irritated by intrusive - let's call it feature creep (harsher words could be used) - I'm bemused that increasing product complexity isn't accompanied by ways to clean things up by eg turning off nags.
The issue hasn't gone away. It isn't solved. And yes - just to be clear - I'm perfectly able to redesign spreadsheets to make them more efficient and limit bloat - and I do this if it's in my remit.
I'm also aware that answers can be phrased to close down issues that aren't going to be fixed.

Really!! It seems strange that this just started after Microsoft office update Oct 2024. I have been running the same Excel 365 for years and with the same templates, and it only does it to some, and now this comes up and your telling me I can't disable.
In our environment we were able to disable the prompts by updating Internet Properties in Control Panel. It has something to do with the Excel Macros. Go To Control Panel > Internet Properties > Security Tab > Trusted Sites > Sites >
We added some of the locations where users obtain shared worksheets for SharePoint path; domain server mapped drive path.
Select close > OK and reboot the computer.

Very well said. It is a LACK of CARING about a product and the USERS.
You would think that a UI research group would work with users about this type of change prior to final implementation. And since when is there an option put it that you CAN'T turn off?
All Microsoft has to do is BACKOUT this change. Yet they REFUSE to HELP the community. Why?
