Hello, What software will people be using and why when Publisher is phased out in October 2026? Thank you.

I know there's InDesign and Canva. Also, will Publisher files be able to be converted ?

Well Ihave just tried converting PUB file to Word via PDF. What a @#$ mess that made. The resulting word file is nothing like the PUB file.

I trust that Microsoft will also reduce the price of their subscription on deleting one of four programs of the MS365 suite that I use (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook). I might add that I have several hundred, probably thousands of Publisher files that come October next year I will not be able to access.

In the words of the Australian Yellow Pages advertisement "NOT HAPPY JANE".

    Currently looking for alternatives.

Has anyone tried this? Additional cost? Last actual disk I've found in my stash was 2003 Professional Office Upgrade and just downloaded upgrades from there. I've changed computers at least 3 times since then, so no existing stand alone on hard drive.

So...I just downloaded LibreOffice Draw. I opened a preexisting publisher file, and I was able to open it and edit it. YEAH!!!!

That's great! I also tried Draw and was able to open a 30-page office file quickly. Some of the drawings and images were turned sideways and slightly compressed, but I haven't had time to do much with it. Also, colors were not the same or were black and white. But so far, this is the best alternative I've tried. Scribus opened .pubs but they were pretty messed up.

I hope people will sign the Publisher petition on change.org. It's doubtful that Microsoft will care about it, but it can't hurt.

Perpetual copies will work; there will be no support.
