Hello, What software will people be using and why when Publisher is phased out in October 2026? Thank you.

I know there's InDesign and Canva. Also, will Publisher files be able to be converted ?

After much discussion and years of using MS Publisher, I have not not had a satisfactory answer why MS would drop their best ever popular program.

My answer to this problem has been to keep my old laptop running with Windows 10 and that era's Publisher AND NEVER go on line, for obvious reasons. When the work is completed, Save and convert it to PDF file for use on my new laptop that the latest MS ware. So far is has worked just fine.

I especially like your #5. I have over 25 years of material, and it makes me so angry I may have to re-do everything if I want to keep using it.

I am in the same boat. I work for two non-profits. I have been searching for easy to use alternatives but so far, I have not found any.

I signed up for a free trial of Affinity and pretty quickly figured out that it was created for someone with a lot more knowledge that what is needed for Publisher. It is not intuitive and is very clunky. I am not sure that I will stick with it.

Except that now, Microsoft is installing a program that blocks you from installing the legacy programs. I just returned a new laptop as I could not install Office on it. If you have an older computer running Office or Publisher, treat it like a queen.
