Publisher alternative in 2026

I agree. I wish Publisher made it easier though to add bleed and crop marks.

I have found that a software application that is dedicated to a specific task/solution offers a much better product at the end of the day.

Spreading the features of publisher to other applications/software only dilutes the features making it harder for the end user to produce the quality product that is expected.

Sophia, you summed up my thoughts perfectly. I am a church secretary, and I also have used Publisher for over 20 years to create weekly bulletins, flyers, letters and all my other publishing needs. I absolutely abhor Word, and hardly ever use it! Microsoft, please re-think this decision to discontinue Publisher! You have no other product that has the functionality and flexibility of Publisher.

When the time comes, that publisher is no more, I would suggest printing your publisher documents to pdfs. If you do this, these are most likely file types that can be broken down into parts like images and text boxes. If you save them as jpegs, pngs or the like, you are creating an image that can't be separated again.

I use Publisher to write a newsletter for a charity. There is not the money to buy a fancy programme, and I am not good at learning new software. We also frequently lose internet connection at work, so having everything based online is not ideal.
