- Since the conversation on your iPhone is the hoster, please make sure you didn't switch the Translator app on your iPhone.
- According to the article, Please make sure the host of the conversation (iPhone) didn't lock new participants from joining.

- Please start a new conversation, manually enter the five-letter code on your iPad, and then check again.
- Please make sure your iPad connects a good internet. You can turn on the personal hotspot on your iPhone, and have your iPad connect the hotspot. After that, please check again.
If the above points don't help, I suggest you start a new conversation on your iPad and check if you can join it on your iPhone.
